your guide to finding
THE PERFECT RUG
We took the guesswork out of choosing
the right rug for every room.
start with size
When searching for a rug, the most daunting
task is the first step: what size? So we made it easy
and broke down the process, room by room.
Design Tips
The front legs of sofas and chairs
should sit on the rug.
Leave at least 6” of rug space
on each side of the furniture.
Make sure there is at least 1’ of exposed
floor between the rug and walls.

Neutral textures, like a
sustainable jute or sisal, look
great solo or as a foundation
for layering a smaller rug.
Hand-knotted and
Persian-style wool rugs are
equally durable and timeless.
Plus, the intricate patterns
hide dirt with ease.
Beautiful yet durable
performance rugs can handle
everything from daily foot
traffic to spilled popcorn.
how to layer rugs
Style a smaller rug on top of a larger area rug to bring
depth and visual interest to any arrangement.
Get the Look
Start with a neutral base, like a textured
sisal or nubby jute. Next, layer a smaller rug,
like a colorful flat weave, soft wool rug
or genuine hide, on top.
The top rug should be roughly
2/3 the size of the base.
Design Tips
Choose a rug that is large enough to fit
all four chair legs when they are pulled out.
Leave at least 24” between the backs
of the chairs and the edges of the rug.
If the table is extendable, select a rug size that
can accommodate the table at its longest length.
